Training Summary
This training for Recovery Coaches and other Peer Workers offers participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding, practice and proficiency with Motivational Interviewing, a highly regarded evidence-based practice. Participants will practice Motivational Interviewing skills and OARS strategies, adapted for non-clinical use in peer recovery support, to encourage, facilitate and support behavior change.
Learning Objectives
1. Understand the core tenets, points, processes, and spirit of Motivational Interviewing (MI).
2. Discover connections between MI and Recovery.
3. Describe and practice the four skills of MI.
4. Define and identify Change Talk.
5. Develop MI skills through role-play.
